"The basic discovery about any people is the discovery of the relationship between its men and its women." -- Pearl S. Buck |

What is the direction that ''feminism'' is taking today?
I think Feminism has gone beyond bra burning and gone forward to changing some more important issues than whether to wear underwear or not. Workplace equality and gender violence are some of the issues Feminism continues to tackle. Gradually women all over the world will experience fair treatment and mutual respect from other women and from men.
What is the most important feminist issue today?
right of contract and property
right to bodily integrity and autonomy
protection from domestic violence
>protection sexual harassment and rape
workplace rights
female genital mutilation

What was the motivation behind burning/banning the bra (choose all that apply)?
women were formally casting off the bonds of oppression to become liberated
to get headlines, socially shock people, and politically motivate
>bra burning was invented for media hype- which created both social structure changing happening and a lingering negative stereotype

Why is it OK for a man to be overweight and unattractive, but women are judged so harshly if they are the same (choose all that apply)?
because the traditional image of what a woman should be in our society is young and beautiful, whereas men are judged a lot more on their job, car etc. than their looks
>it is not OK for men to be overweight
women and men are both judged harshly
women do not check out men the way men check out women
it is easier for a woman to be seen as attractive, where as if a man strives to be fit and look good they can be targeted as metrosexual or even homosexual
